Keith Mueller, Project Director, has worked with the Wisconsin Lions Foundation for one year — and what a year it has been! - Tell us a little about yourself (hobbies, personal interests, who are you outside of work?)
My hobbies typically revolve around whatever any of my four children are interested in. When I do have spare time, I enjoy freshwater fishing.
- How would you describe the Wisconsin Lions Foundation and what you do?
Nothing short of amazing. Being one of the main individuals who work on four of our five projects has been an eye-opener. Having the resources and network to be able to help so many people and to help assist Lions across Wisconsin to achieve their mission, has been a breath of fresh air and the best job a person could ask for.
- How did you originally become involved with this organization?
I attended one of our regular fire district meetings and complained about working in retail. This is when the WLF Facility Director, as well as my Fire Chief, suggested that I apply to the Wisconsin Lions Camp as there were a few openings.
- How did you find your way into your current role?
After applying for the food service supervisor at camp, Andrea, the Lions Camp Director, told me she didn’t want me (not in those words ☺). She passed my application along to Evett and Evett conducted an interview with me for the Hearing Project Supervisor. As these interviews progressed, so did the job description. Evett and the WLF team eventually hired me for the Project Director position which encompasses the Hearing Project, Eyeglass Recycling Project, Diabetes Awareness Project, and Vision Screening Project.
- What’s your favorite part about working with the Wisconsin Lions Foundation or your role?
My favorite part about working with the Wisconsin Lions Foundation is being a part of a team that strives for the same goal: Reaching, Touching, and Improving Lives.
- What message do you have for someone interested in becoming a donor to the Wisconsin Lions Foundation? For someone interested in becoming a volunteer/Lion?
I think this was best said by John Bunyan, “You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” Thank you to the previous WLF President, Larry Testa, for sharing this quote.
