Volunteers are Needed at the Eyeglass Recycling Center

Our Eyeglass Recycling Center provides a critical need, eyeglasses, for missions both domestically and abroad. We have an amazing staff that works to sort, wash, read, and package hundreds of thousands of glasses every year to help fill this need. Even with their tireless work, we still have missions that contact us who want more glasses than we have ready.

A lifeline for us and our mission partners are volunteers coming to help with the reading of eyeglasses at our Eyeglass Recycling Center in Rosholt. We currently have four automatic lensometer machines dedicated to volunteers coming in to read glasses throughout the week. Our staff can train the typical volunteer in approximately one hour to read eyeglasses.

We have a great group of volunteers who have been coming to help us out, but we need more help. Whether you can come out here one time for a few hours or if you can make it a regular event, every little bit helps.

Volunteering involves sitting in a chair at the machine, putting in the eyeglasses, pushing a button, and then writing the results on a bag. This is great for school organizations like National Honor Society and sports teams who want to give back to the community. It is also great for workers who have Volunteer Time Off or for retirees who are looking for ways to stay connected. Whether you are a Lion or not, everyone can make a difference.
