The Wisconsin Lions Foundation (WLF) is dedicated to promoting the health and overall well-being of children and families throughout the state. Each day, we aim to live out our mission of reaching, touching, and improving lives. Through our statewide projects, we offer free resources for students and families that address hearing, vision, and access to life-changing camp experiences.

Whether your student needs a hearing aid, an eye exam, or the chance to attend summer camp, WLF is here to help.

Hearing Support for All Ages

The WLF Hearing Project serves individuals of all ages who are hard-of-hearing and cannot afford the cost of hearing aids. In partnership with Lions and Hearing Healthcare Professionals across Wisconsin, this project helps ensure that everyone has access to better hearing. We collect used hearing aids at drop-off locations throughout the state, which builds a credit fund for us to use to purchase new hearing aids for those who qualify.

Interested individuals can apply online at www.wlf.info/hearing-resources, email hearing@wlf.info, or call (715) 677-4969. Please note that applicants must receive prior authorization from the WLF Hearing Project before ordering a hearing aid.

Supporting Vision for Students

Good vision is essential for learning, and WLF offers several programs to support Wisconsin students:

  • Vision Screenings – Trained Lions volunteers use PlusOptix or Spot screeners to quickly detect potential eye issues. Students receive either a “pass” or a referral to an eye health professional for further evaluation. To schedule a screening, contact your local Vision Screening Chair.
  • Voucher Program – For students without vision insurance or the means to pay for an eye exam or glasses, WLF partners with Shopko Optical Kids in Focus to provide vouchers. These vouchers can cover the cost of an eye exam and/or a new pair of glasses. School officials or Lions may request a voucher by emailing Project Director Keith Mueller at kmueller@wlf.info. Referrals to this program may be made via Vision Screenings by Lions or through school officials.
Wisconsin Lions Camp – A Life-Changing Experience

Since 1956, Wisconsin Lions Camp has provided free, weeklong summer camp experiences for youth and adults with disabilities. Campers enjoy fun, friendship, and independence in a supportive environment designed to meet their needs.

  • Youth ages 6–17 who are Blind or Visually Impaired, Deaf or Hard of Hearing, or living with epilepsy
  • Youth ages 10–17 with intellectual disabilities or autism
  • Youth ages 10–17 with diabetes

Students must be Wisconsin residents, toilet-trained, and able to participate in a group setting (one staff member to six campers). Applications open in late January at www.wisconsinlionscamp.com. For more details, info@wisconsinlionscamp.com.
